Accessibility on the Sunderland City Council Website

Sunderland City Council is committed to providing its online services to all sections of the public, our website is designed to follow the accessibility guidelines issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB).

Validated the website against the standards and recommendations of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).  This initiative is a programme lead by The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)

Ensure that all HTML documents conform to W3C HTML and XHTML Recommendations and other HTML standards.

Ensure the every image on the site uses alternative text to describe the content of the picture. This is useful for text-based browsers and/or for users with visual impairments.

Increase the contrast between background and text for readability purposes wherever possible.
